One of the most common questions I get from buyers is, "Is it Lake Worth or Lake Worth Beach?" The answer: it depends on where the home is.
In 2019, the City of Lake Worth officially changed its name to Lake Worth Beach. But many homes west
of the city limits still carry a "Lake Worth" mailing address even though they're in unincorporated Palm
Beach County. That difference matters, because it affects which local government handles services,
what zoning rules apply and sometimes what you'll pay in taxes and utilities.
Before you make an offer, make sure you know which one you're buying in. It's one of the first things I
check for my clients.
Why People Love Lake Worth Beach
A true beach town feel. The city's oceanfront includes the Lake Worth Beach Casino building and the
pier, a favorite spot for fishing, sunrise walks and grabbing a bite with the family.
A walkable, artsy downtown. Lake and Lucerne Avenues are lined with local shops, restaurants and
galleries. The annual Street Painting Festival brings artists and visitors from all over.
Character homes. Lake Worth Beach is known for its historic cottages and older homes with real charm.
If you want something with personality instead of a cookie-cutter floor plan, this is a great place to look.
Tips for Buying an Older Home Here
Charm is wonderful, but older homes come with homework. I always recommend a thorough inspection,
plus a close look at the roof age, electrical, plumbing and windows. These items affect both your repair
budget and your homeowners insurance, which is a big consideration in Florida right now.
My job is to make that process simple, so you can focus on the fun part: picturing your life in your new
home.
